Fake Feeds, False Facts, and a Fractured Future.
AI-generated content is flooding digital spaces, making it impossible to know what’s real. Bad actors exploit this to manipulate opinions, divide communities, and erode trust. The Digital Integrity Alliance is fighting for transparency, human authentication, and a future where real people—not machines—shape public discourse. Join the fight to take back the conversation.
The importance of our mission
AI Threats: AI-generated content—images, videos, and deepfake technology—presents new threats to individuals and society at large. With astonishing realism, AI can create fake content, spread misinformation, defame individuals, or impersonate trusted figures. These technologies can manipulate people’s beliefs, erode trust in media, and exploit vulnerabilities, making it harder for the public to distinguish between truth and deception. The risks extend beyond reputational harm to personal safety and social cohesion, from fake news reports to fabricated evidence. As these tools become more accessible, it’s crucial to establish safeguards to protect individuals and to preserve a reality grounded in authenticity and trust.
Social Manipulation: We believe that toxic social influence and AI-driven disinformation pose one of the greatest threats to our nation's future. As algorithms amplify divisive content and foreign actors exploit vulnerabilities, our society risks deeper division and growing mistrust. A healthy democracy cannot function amid widespread deception and manipulation; it relies on informed citizens making choices based on truth. Each step we take in confronting these digital shadows brings us closer to a society grounded in clarity, trust, and integrity. Join us in uncovering the truth beneath layers of misinformation, and help restore our democracy's foundation.
How BIG is the problem?
The problem is significant and growing, with bots now estimated to make up over half of all internet traffic. In 2022 alone, bots accounted for roughly 47% of web traffic, with around 27% being malicious—dedicated to fraud, deception, and social manipulation. AI advancements have made bots more sophisticated, enabling them to engage unsuspecting users in realistic conversations. The proliferation of AI-generated content is also rising, with some estimates suggesting that it could comprise 90% of web content by 2026.

A bot farm in action
This leaked footage offers a rare glimpse into a basic Chinese bot farm in operation. Here, hundreds of devices are connected to the internet, each running unique social media profiles to push agendas, sway public opinion, or inflate follower counts. Yet, this video is already outdated. Today’s bot farms operate on a far larger scale, with thousands of devices and advanced automation that allows for seamless, sophisticated manipulation. These bots don’t just post—they actively engage in social discourse, upload images, like, comment, and upvote with a human-like nuance, making it nearly impossible to distinguish these artificial interactions from authentic human engagement.
